About the work
The interiors of Home by Jessica Hargreaves are painted on canvas panel room dividers. There is a decorative quality to the piece that is in counterpoint to the images depicted. The movement and patterns of the scene flow along the panels, recalling traditional Asian screens. Some of the paintings in this series are pensive while others are chaotic. Television or computers are used as a device for introducing the threat of outside danger. The characters in the paintings are only aware of their personal dramas or distractions.
